While living on the North Shore of Oahu Hawaii
before the arrival of digital media, I traded my 3-speed bicycle for a
friend’s Pentax MX camera and began to shoot, shoot, shoot.
Back on the Mainland later, I took photography classes at the
University of Utah and then again at San Antonio College.
At some point, I bought a Canon Rebel SLR camera and began mixing
the two mediums of photography and painting into something I called
Kalaidoprints. This led to
taking painting, drawing and design classes at Laguna Gloria Art School
in Austin and then to majoring in art at St. Edward’s University.
I have since moved into digital photography and spend time both
capturing pictures in photographs and creating pictures with acrylic
paint.
Currently I have an art studio behind our house in
North Central Austin where the large front door opens onto a garden.
Every few months I have what is called an “Art Party” and
show photographs and paintings of tropical plant designs in tile
patterns. Also shown is
work by other artists and the public and friends are invited to the
festivities. Often there is
live music and always refreshments and a good time.
